Versailles Lion Dance Team (VLDT) was established in 2007. The team consists of boys and girls from the community who are interested in engaging in the Vietnamese Culture and tradition. The lion dance is normally performed during the Vietnamese New Year but also performs for special events and festivals. The lion dance is believed to fight away evil sprits and also brings good luck, harmony, and prosperity.

VLDT’s originator and choreographer is Tuan Mai, who is from the New Orleans East community. His goal is to provide students with a better understanding of their culture, tradition, also ensuring that students have a healthy lifestyle. Our motto is S.E.M.R, which stands for Strength, Endurance, Motivation, and Respect. These are the values all students of the Versailles Lion Dance Team must learn and exhibit
